In partnership with the Coastal Community Foundation, Home Telecom will grant $68,000 through the annual Home Community Fund grant program this month. The funding will go to 22 local nonprofits in the Tri-County coastal region of South Carolina, that will work to make communities a better place.
Since Home Telecom joined with the Coastal Community Foundation in 2002 to create the Home Community Fund, they have contributed $595,228 to hundreds of well-deserving nonprofit organizations serving Berkeley, Dorchester, and Charleston counties. Each award recipient can receive up to $4,000.
The CCF utilizes industry partnerships to bring together leadership, advocacy and engagement that promote positive changes in the region.
“Home Telecom is an example of the positive impact corporate investment has on our region,” said Coastal Community Foundation President and CEO Darrin Goss, Sr. “The Home Community Fund not only supports several Tri-County nonprofits but allows employees to get involved in the decision-making process.
“We aim to find ways to incorporate all members of our community in the joy of philanthropy and are proud to partner with Home Telecom to make the greatest impact with their charitable giving.”
As always, Home Telecom received a wide range of qualified applicants this year representing several nonprofit categories related to health and disabilities; education, literacy, and personal growth; children and families in crisis; church charities; food insecurity; veterans; and animal rescue.
“We congratulate the Coastal Community Foundation and their team members on 50 years of investment in our communities,” said Home Telecom President and CEO Will Helmly. “The service they provide fosters an easy avenue for companies like Home Telecom to grant funding to needed nonprofit organizations.
“As a company who was founded on community service more than 120 years ago, the constructive influence of boosting charitable organizations in our area is a vital part of our core mission,” he continued. “We are grateful that we’ve been able to grow and expand this grant over the years to provide a boost to
more applicants in
more regions. Every year we struggle to make our final selections because every applicant is worthy of support.”
Home Telecom tries to fill that gap with other grants like the Community Grant Program through our membership with the National Telephone Cooperative Association (NTCA); through local sponsorships, involvement in schools and local sports programs; and employee volunteer efforts.
The application portal for the 2025 Home Community Fund opens April 1, 2025. All requests must be submitted by June 1, 2025.
