First Citizens Bank Branch Nexton Summerville SC Ground Breaking Ceremony

SUMMERVILLE, SC – First Citizens Bank recently broke ground on its 4,250-square-foot branch at Nexton, South Carolina’s most innovative and walkable community. Scheduled to open in late 2021, the branch will be located at 107 First Citizens Way, at the corner of Nexton Parkway and Cross Park Drive in Summerville.

“First Citizens’ branch at Nexton will be a significant addition to our bank network and symbolizes our long-term commitment to our customers and the community,” said First Citizen Bank’s Southern Coastal Area Executive Reeves Skeen. “It will give our customers even greater access to our bank at a prominent and growing location. We are excited about continuing to deliver on our Forever First promise of quality, stability and exceptional service at this new facility for many years to come.”

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday with several First Citizens representatives in attendance, including: Skeen, South Carolina Regional Executive Sharon Bryant, Manager of Retail Banking Jason Maurer, Berkeley County Market Executive Dot Gatlin, Charleston Area Manager of Business Banking Benjamin Anderson, Charleston Area Manager of Commercial Banking James Dusenberry and Southern Coastal Advisory Board Member Henry Blackford. Nexton’s Marketing Director Cassie Cataline was also in attendance on behalf of the master-planned community.

In conjunction with the groundbreaking, First Citizens announced that it will make a donation to Berkeley Citizens, a nonprofit that serves intellectually and developmentally disabled people in the area. The gift will help pay for the installation of a commercial sprinkler system at a newly opened group home.

“We want to extend a huge thank you to First Citizens for its very generous donation,” said Holly A. Frye, executive director of Berkeley Citizens. “We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our community and local businesses.”

In addition to a staffed lobby, the full-service branch features a drive-through and ATM service, ample parking, and a night depository. First Citizens operates 20 branches in the greater Charleston area and 130 locations across South Carolina.

“We are thrilled to welcome First Citizens Bank to our Nexton family as we continue to make significant strides in thoughtfully growing the community’s business services,” said Nexton’s VP of Operations Brent Gibadlo. “Nexton’s plan encourages more efficient living by blending all of life’s essential ingredients into one sustainable community, and we are delighted to offer First Citizens’ banking services to our residents and visitors.”

Located on 5,000 acres in the heart of Charleston’s I-26 growth corridor, Nexton is a lifestyle-driven destination that artfully blends the best of live, work and play – all within close proximity to the area’s top employers, including Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and Boeing. Nexton is considered a national model for master planned communities, featuring four residential villages, three luxury apartment communities, 300,000 square feet of office space, state-of-the-art schools, 20 miles of trails, 2,000 acres of green space and multiple commercial nodes.
