It’s hard to believe that Nexton was more than just a set of master plans five years ago. The thriving community is now home to a school, award-winning residential neighborhoods and scenic parks. The newest addition to this list will be shopping and dining as construction begins at Nexton Square.
Developed by RealtyLink Commercial, Nexton Square will feature a 140,000 square foot retail center located on 17A. The 17 acre tract sits on Brighton Park Boulevard, adjacent to the existing Courtyard Marriott and the Parks at Nexton. This complex will be a short walk from home for Nexton residents. Three popular Charleston restaurants will call Nexton Square home: Halls Chophouse, Taco Boy and Fuji Sushi… all options well worth the walk! The Bicycle Shoppe is the first retail store signed on for the project.
RealtyLink Commercial, the North Charleston based developer, is the same company that is re-developing Oakbrook Station, home to a new Lowes Foods. “We are excited to capitalize on the tremendous growth in Summerville with the acquisition of the Nexton Square site. Our vision for the development is to fill a void in the retail and service market with best-in-class local, regional and national tenants. It is our hope that Nexton Square and its public spaces serve as an amenity for Summerville residents to gather for community events." said Charles Fitzhenry, leasing director of RealtyLink Commercial, LLC.
Nexton Square will continue the appealing green theme of Nexton with a central green space, abundant outdoor dining and a compelling mix of restaurants, retail and services. Groundbreaking will be in fall of this year with retail space anticipated to be available to tenants by Summer of 2018. According to the folks at Nexton, this means “you could be enjoying a dinner under the stars by the time school starts next year.”
Nexton has been awarded numerous accolades since opening its first residential neighborhood about one-and-a-half years ago, including Charleston’s Best Planned Urban Development by the Charleston Home Builders Association in 2015. Nexton has approval for 13,000 residential units. More than 200 homes have been sold in the first phase, Brighton Park Village.
